Lending to trade, services up in Azerbaijan

Lending to the trade and services sphere in Azerbaijan reached 2.56 billion manat ($1.5 billion) in the first 4 months of 2021, which is 4.2 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the statistical report of the Central Bank (CBA).

According to the report, short-term loans accounted for 708.2 million manat ($416.5 million), or 27.8 percent of the total volume of lending.

At the same time, loans in national currency accounted for 506.8 million manat ($298.1 million), and in foreign currency - 201.4 million manat ($118.4 million), the report said.

“Long-term loans accounted for 1.84 billion manat ($1.08 billion), or 72.2 percent of the total volume of issued loans. Loans in the national currency were issued in the amount of 1.21 billion manat ($0.7 billion), in foreign currency - 627.6 million manat ($369.1 million),” the CBA said.

During this period, loans in this area were mainly allocated to private institutions and mainly in the national currency (1.72 billion manat ($1.01 billion), 67.5 percent of the total lending to the sector).

The share of lending to the sphere of trade and services in lending to the real sector amounted to 17.1 percent, having increased by 0.9 percent over the year.
