Central Bank of Iran announces loans issued for housing construction

Banks in Iran issued loans worth 118 trillion rials (about $2.81 billion) in the housing and construction sector in Iran during the first two months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through May 21, 2021),Trend reports citing the statistics of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

According to statistics, about 25.7 trillion rials (about $612 million) worth of loans were issued for construction work in the housing and construction sector within the first two months.

“In addition, Iranian banks issued loans worth 50.4 trillion rials (about $1.2 billion) as working capital in this sector,” the statistics said.

Over the reporting period, 16.5 trillion rials (about $394 million) worth of loans were issued for repair work and 3.74 trillion rials (about $89 million) for development work in the housing and construction sector, the statistics said.

Furthermore, Iranian banks issued loans worth 2 billion rials (about $47,600) for the purchase of personal assets in the housing and construction sector, 21.3 trillion rials (about $507 million) for the purchase of housing, and 579 billion rials (about $13.7 million) for other purposes.

As reported, the Iranian banks issued loans worth about 2.74 quadrillion rials (about $65.2 billion) in various economic sectors in the first two months of the current Iranian year. This an increase of 46.6 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
