The accumulated direct investments of Georgia in Latvia amounted to 6 million euros in 2020, while those of Latvia into Georgia reached 3 million euros, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia told Trend.

According to the ministry, in 2020 there were 80 companies in Latvia with Georgian investments with a total amount of 4.1 million euros.

"There is a lot of potential for economic cooperation in areas such as tourism, transport and logistics, green technologies, information and communication technologies, agricultural sector and pharmaceuticals, as well as new innovative sectors," the ministry added.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the tourism exchanges between our countries continued to deepen, which was possible thanks to the success of the Latvian national airline air Baltic, said the ministry.

"We hope that the epidemiological situation in both countries will be favorable and the Riga-Tbilisi flights will continue to facilitate the development of tourism industry and business cooperation. Latvian and Georgian tourism representatives held various seminars on standardization of hotel and tourism services, in order to improve Georgia’s tourism offers," the ministry added.
