Central Bank of Azerbaijan records decline in lending to government agencies

The lending to government agencies from January through June 2021 in Azerbaijan amounted to 600,000 manat ($352,900), Trend reports citing the statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, the given figure had been remaining almost unchanged from early May 2020 to early February 2021, but decreased year on year by 200,000 manat ($117,600) or 25 percent.

The largest share of loans in Azerbaijan in the first half of 2021 fell on households, amounting to slightly over 7.3 billion manat ($4.3 million), or 48 percent of the total volume of lending to the real sector.

The volume of loans issued to other sectors during the reporting period made up 559.1 million manat ($328.8 million), which is 249 million manat ($146.4 million) or 30.8 percent less than at the beginning of July 2020. The share of lending to other sectors in lending to the real sector amounted to 3.7 percent, which is less by 1.9 percent compared to the first half of last year.

Total lending to the real sector of the economy of Azerbaijan in the first six months of 2021 amounted to over 15.2 billion manat ($8.9 billion), which is a rise of 707.4 million manat ($416.1 million) or 4.9 percent on annual basis.
