Central Bank of Iran shares data on number of checkbooks printed in country

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 23

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

A total of 2.46 million checkbooks were printed in Iran under a single check system called "Sayyad" from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to August 6, 2021, Trend reports referring to the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

According to the report, these checkbooks have a total of 62 million check notes.

About 94 percent of these checkbooks belonged to individuals and 6 percent to legal entities, the report said.

Within the mentioned period, more than 10 million checks were registered under the Sayyad single check system. About 80 percent of the registered checks, i.e., about 8 million were approved by the banks.

Reportedly, the Central Bank of Iran created a single Sayyad check system in Iran in August 2017. The purpose is to fully control the issuance of checks, prevent the return of checks and speed up the operational processes in the checking system.
