Central Bank of Iran announces amount of funds provided for import of essential products

The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) provided $7.25 billion for the import of essential products and medicines during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), Trend reports citing the CBI’s website.

According to the report, foreign currency providing has more than doubled compared to the same period last Iranian year.

These funds were provided based on the needs of the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad and the Ministry of Health and Medical Education.

“So, the CBI provided $1.4 billion for the import of corn, $1.25 billion for edible crude oil or vegetable oil, $939 million for oilseeds, $580 million for barley, as well as, $571 million for the import of compressed soybeans, $564 million for wheat and $322 million for other goods,” the report said.

In addition, $1.61 billion was provided for the import of medicines, the CBI said.
