ADB shares forecast for current account of Azerbaijan

By the end of 2021, the current account of Azerbaijan will amount to 7 percent of GDP against the 3.9 percent projected in April 2021 (3.1 percentage points more), Trend reports, referring to the Asian Development Outlook-2021 Update September report of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The ADB predicts the current account of Azerbaijan to be equal to 8.1 percent of GDP in 2022, against the 5.5 percent projected in April 2021, which shows an increase of 2.6 percentage points.

According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, a surplus was recorded in the current account from January through June 2021, which increased by $1.3 billion, or 3.2 times, from $598.2 million to $1.9 billion compared to the same period of 2020. This is 8 percent of GDP.

From January through June 2021, Azerbaijan's GDP reached 39.9 billion manat ($23.4 billion).
