Azerbaijan sees increase in volume of loans

The volume of loans issued in Baku city and districts of Azerbaijan from January through August 2021 increased by 902.6 million manat ($530.9 million) or 6.3 percent compared to the same period last year - from 14.3 billion manat ($8.4 billion) to 15.2 billion manat ($8.9 billion), Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan's (CBA) statistics bulletin on Sept. 23.

According to the CBA, during the reporting period, the loans worth 11.9 billion manat ($7 billion) were issued in Baku, which is 3.6 times more than in the districts.

At the same time, 7.9 billion manat ($4.6 billion) - 66.4 percent of total lending in Baku accounted for the loans in the national currency in Baku.

The average annual interest rate on loans in Azerbaijan was 11.65 percent while in Baku - 9.73 percent.
