The total volume of deposits in Azerbaijani banks from January through August 2021 increased by 2 billion manat ($1.1 billion), or 9.1 percent – from 22.7 billion ($13.3 billion) to 24.8 billion manat ($14.5 billion) year-on-year, Trend reports via the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
Deposits of non-financial organizations increased by 1.7 billion manat ($1 billion), or 13.2 percent, over the year and reached about 14.5 billion manat ($8.5 billion), compared to 12.8 billion manat ($7.5 billion) for the same period of 2020.
Deposits of individuals increased from 7.8 billion ($4.5 billion) to 8.5 billion manat ($5 billion) – an increase of 684.7 million manat ($402.7 milllion), or 8.7 percent.
During the reporting period, deposits in foreign currency decreased by 5.9 percent in annual terms – from 13.4 billion ($7.8 billion) to 12.6 billion ($7.4 billion), and increased from 9.2 billion ($5.4 billion) to 12.1 billion ($7.1 billion) in manat currency – an increase of 31 percent over the year.
