Georgia sees increase in total volume of non-bank deposits

The total volume of non-bank deposits in Georgia′ s banking sector increased by 0.82 percent or by 287.82 million lari ($92.6 million) in July 2021 compared to August and constituted 35.41 billion lari ($11.3 billion) by September 1, 2021, Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia.

In August, the volume of term deposits increased by 56.39 million lari ($18.1 million). Demand deposits increased by 231.43 million lari ($74.4 million).

The larization ratio of total non-bank deposits constituted 39.89 percent by September 1, 2021 and decreased by 0.10 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded by 0.19 percentage point) compared to August 1, 2021.

The market interest rate on term deposits constituted 6.38 percent.

In particular, the market interest rate for national currency denominated deposits was 10.37 percent and the market interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits was 0.88 percent.

The share of the US dollar in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals 83.67 percent and the share of the Euro equals 14.95 percent.
