Consumer spending in Azerbaijan up

Each consumer spent an average of 403.7 manat ($237.5) a month in Azerbaijan from January through September 2021, which is by 8.1 percent more than in the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan's monetary policy report.

The volume of goods and services sold in the market increased by 3.3 percent in real terms and amounted to 36.4 billion manat ($21.4 billion) from January through September 2021 to meet the needs of consumers compared to the same period of last year.

The share of food, beverages and tobacco in retail trade increased by 0.2 percentage points, the share of computer and communication goods - by 0.1 percentage points, the share of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment - by 0.4 percentage points, the share of gasoline - by 0.7 percentage points from January through September 2021 compared to the same period of last year.

Each consumer spent 181.1 manat ($106.5) per month for food, drinks and tobacco products while 157.7 manat ($92.8) for non-food products in trade facilities.
