Azerbaijan records slight increase in non-cash transactions in foreign exchange market

The volume of transactions carried out in 9M2021 in the foreign exchange market in Azerbaijan increased by more than 1.6 percent compared to the previous year and reached $19.2 billion, Trend reports citing the Central Bank's monetary policy report.

According to the report, 85.9 percent of non-cash foreign exchange transactions were carried out in US dollars, and the remaining 14.1 percent - in other currencies.

In addition, 28.7 percent of transactions, including transactions with US dollars, euros, pounds sterling, and rubles, were carried out in the interbank foreign exchange market, and 71.3 percent - in the intrabank foreign exchange market.

It is noted that the volume of transactions carried out by banks for the purchase and sale of foreign currency in cash, compared with the previous year, having decreased by 35.4 percent, reaching $2.7 billion.

Transactions carried out in US dollars accounted for 85.2 percent.
