Azerbaijani banks increase number of client accounts within 11M2021

The number of client accounts in Azerbaijani banks from January through November 2021 has increased, Trend reports referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, this figure reached 25.4 million, which is 4.26 million accounts or 20.14 percent more than from January through November last year (21.14 million accounts).

During the first 11 months of 2021, most (84.3 percent) of the client accounts fell on current accounts - 21.41 million compared to 18.21 million in the same period of last year (an increase of 3.19 million or 17.5 percent). Almost all current accounts belonged to individuals - about 21.11 million.

The number of credit accounts, making up 14.5 percent in the structure of client accounts, rose by over one million or 37.8 percent from 2.7 million (recorded in 11M2020) to 3.7 million, while deposit accounts made up one percent or 248,802 (213,922 a year earlier).

Moreover, the number of bank clients increased by 2.7 million or 30.17 percent - from 8.98 million to 11.7 million from January through November this year on annual basis, of which 11.5 million were individuals, and 125,350 - legal entities.

Presently, there are 26 banks in Azerbaijan, two of which are state-owned banks and 24 private banks.
