Amount of loans issued by Iranian banks soars

The Iranian banks issued loans worth about 20.2 quadrillion rials (about $481 billion) in various economic sectors in the country, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through December 21, 2021), Trend reports via the statistics of Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

Meanwhile, in the same period of the Iranian year, the figure stood at about 7.56 quadrillion rials (about $180 billion).

"So, the banks issued about 1.47 quadrillion rials (about $35 billion) worth of loans in the agricultural sector within the mentioned period," the statistics said.

Moreover, the banks issued loans worth about 6.1 quadrillion rials (about $145 billion) in Iran's industrial and mining sectors over nine months.

According to the statistics, the banks also issued loans worth about 1.06 quadrillion rials (about $25.2 billion) in Iran's housing and construction sector during the reporting period.

Furthermore, the Iranian banks issued loans worth 3.11 quadrillion rials (about $74.1 billion) in the trade sector for 9 months.

At the same time, about 8.43 quadrillion rials (about $201 billion) worth of loans were issued in the services sector and 7.72 trillion rials (about $184 million) in other unmentioned areas over the first 9 months of the current Iranian year, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, the loans are provided for the establishment of enterprises and facilities, as working capital, repair work, development, purchase of personal assets, purchase of apartments, and so on.
