Money transfers from Azerbaijan to Georgia down

The volume of money transfers from Azerbaijan to Georgia in January 2022 amounted to $4.4 million – a decrease of 16.9 percent, compared to $5.3 million over the same month of 2021, Trend reports via statistical data of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

The same figure also decreased by 34.3 percent, compared to $6.7 million in December 2021, the report said.

However, the same figure increased by 175 percent, compared to January 2020 ($1.6 million), and 193.3 percent, compared to the period of 2019 ($1.5 million).

Thus, Azerbaijan ranks 10 among the main countries with the largest amount of transferred money in Georgia in January 2022.

Meanwhile, the volume of money transfers from Azerbaijan to Georgia from January through December 2021 amounted to $85.1 million – an increase of 58.1 percent, compared to $53.8 million in 2020.

The total volume of remittances inflow to Georgia in January 2022 amounted to $168.8 million, which is an increase of 12.7 percent, compared to $149.7 million over the same month of 2021, and 34.3 percent, compared to January 2020 ($125.6 million).
