BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. The Azerbaijan Microfinance Association (AMFA), with the financial support of the US Embassy, is implementing a "Increasing economic opportunities for women in NAR" project in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR), AMFA Board Chairman Jalal Aliyev told Trend.
"In total, 26 women, including three with disabilities, received investment capital. Ten of them began their own business as start-ups, and 16 expanded the existing ones," he said.
Besides, according to him, within the framework of the project, trainings on financial literacy and business planning were held for 28 women.
The beneficiaries of the project were provided with a total of 17,000 manat ($10,000), the board chairman noted.
Some 68 percent of the invested capital was spent on the development of agriculture, 14 percent - the development of services, and 18 percent – on such industries as weaving, canning, carpet weaving, handicrafts, added Aliyev.
