Kazakhstan reports decrease in value of placed deposits

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 29. The volume of deposits in Kazakhstan’s deposit organizations amounted to 25.2 trillion tenge ($55.3 billion) in May 2022, which is 2.5 percent less compared to April 2022 and 3.1 percent more than during the same month last year, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazakhstan’s National Bank.

Deposits of legal persons decreased in value by 3.6 percent to 12.7 trillion tenge ($27.9 billion), whereas deposits of physical persons decreased by 1.3 percent to 12.4 trillion tenge ($27.3 billion).

In turn, the value of deposits denominated in the national currency (tenge) increased by 0.3 percent in a month to 16.8 trillion tenge ($36.9 billion), whereas the value of deposits denominated in foreign currency decreased by 7.6 percent to 8.4 trillion tenge ($18.4 billion).

The deposits dollarization level stood at 33.3 percent in May 2022 compared to 36 in Dec. 2021.

Tenge denominated deposits of legal entities decreased by 0.03 percent in May 2022 and have amounted to 8.4 trillion tenge ($18.5 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated deposits of legal entities decreased by 9.9 percent to 4.3 trillion tenge ($9.4 billion).

Tenge denominated deposits of physical persons increased by 0.7 percent in May 2022 and have amounted to 8.3 trillion tenge ($18.3 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated deposits of physical persons decreased by 5.1 percent to 4.1 trillion tenge ($9 billion).

The value of time deposits amounted to 16.9 trillion tenge ($37.1 billion), having increased by 1.4 percent in May 2022 compared to April 2022.

The weighted average remuneration rate on time deposits of non-bank legal entities in tenge amounted to 11.5 percent in May 2022 compared to 7.3 percent in May 2021, whereas the weighted average remuneration rate on deposits of physical entities was 11 percent compared to 8.6 percent in May 2021.
