BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 8. The amount of loans issued by Iranian banks to the start-up companies in the country increased by 123 percent, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), Ali Salehabadi said, Trend reports citing IBENA News Agency.

Salehabadi noted that overall, Iranian banks issued loans worth 900 trillion rials (about $21.4 billion) to the country’s start-up companies in 8 months.

“Meanwhile, the balance of the loans issued to start-up companies was 1.05 quadrillion rials (about $25 billion) from the beginning of the current Iranian year to the end of the 8th month (November 21, 2022), which is 98.5 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year,” he added.

The director general also pointed out that the loans were issued to more than 1,000 start-up companies.

According to Salehabadi, the Iran government attaches great importance to start-up companies. For this purpose, the country’s banks also provide financial support to start-up companies.
