BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. The volume of loans as of May 31, 2023, issued in Azerbaijan's capital Baku and regions increased by 2.56 billion manat ($1.5 billion), or 14.15 percent compared to the same period in 2022, amounting to 20.6 billion manat ($12.1 billion), Trend reports via the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to the CBA, during the specified period, loans in the amount of 15.7 billion manat ($9.2 billion) were issued in Baku, which is 3.19 times higher than the total volume of loans issued in all regions.
In the capital city, loans in national currency accounted for 11.8 billion manat, or $6.9 billion (75.35 percent of the total volume of loans).
Moreover, the average annual interest rate in the country was 12.49 percent, and in Baku alone - 10.86 percent.
