Local Iranian banks support different economic sectors with huge loans

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26. Iranian banks issued loans worth 20.4 quadrillion rials (about $485 billion) in various economic sectors in the country in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), Trend reports.

Data from the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) shows that the country’s banks lent approximately 8.74 quadrillion rials (about $208 billion) in the services sector within the specified time frame.

At the same time, Iranian banks provided loans amounting to 7.28 quadrillion rials (about $173 billion) to Iran's industrial and mining sectors in six months.

Furthermore, loans worth 2.01 quadrillion rials (about $47.8 billion) were provided in the country’s trade sector during the past six months.

Also, the banks issued loans worth 1.23 quadrillion rials (about $29.1 billion) to Iran's agriculture sector over a six-month period.

In 6 months, approximately 1.13 quadrillion rials (about $26.8 billion) worth of loans were issued in the housing and construction sectors, as well as 3.84 trillion rials (about $91.5 million) in other unmentioned areas.

As reported, the loans are provided for the establishment of enterprises and facilities, such as working capital, repair work, development, the purchase of personal assets, the purchase of apartments, etc.
