ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 6. The total amount of savings of citizens in banks of Turkmenistan reached 3.06 billion Turkmen manat on October 1 of this year, which is equivalent to $873 million, Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, these figures are 6.2 percent more than on the same date last year (2.88 billion Turkmen manat, or $824 million).
Of the total amount, deposits of the population in state commercial banks amounted to 1.91 billion Turkmen manat ($545 million), which is 8.5 percent more than at the beginning of October 2022 (1.76 billion Turkmen manat, or $504 million).
At the same time, the share of deposits of the population in joint-stock commercial banks amounted to 1.14 billion Turkmen manat ($325 million), which is 2.7 percent more than compared to the same date in 2022 (1.11 billion Turkmen manat or $317 million).
Furthermore, deposits of the Turkmenisran's population in branches of foreign banks amounted to 640 million Turkmen manat ($182.6 million), which is 73 percent more than at the beginning of October last year (370 million Turkmen manat or $105.6 million).
Turkmenistan is proactively advancing the growth of its financial sector, emphasizing the modernization of banking establishments, broadening the reach of financial services, and fortifying financial stability.
