ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 7. The total amount of non-cash transactions in Turkmenistan within the framework of the 'Digital Commerce' system from January through September 2023 reached 805.5 million Turkmen manat, which is equal to $230.57 million, Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, during this period, these data reflect an increase of 87.9 percent compared to the corresponding data for the first 9 months of the previous year, which amounted to 428.68 million Turkmen manats or 122.7 million dollars.
During the specified period, the total amount of payments through the 'Mobile Bank' system amounted to 13.3 million Turkmen manat ($3.81 million), and through the 'Internet Bank' system - 1.62 Turkmen manat ($460,000).
Furthermore, in the specified month, the total non-cash turnover through the 'Halkbank terminal' system amounted to 30.4 million Turkmen manat ($8.7 million).
The financial sector in Turkmenistan is undergoing continual expansion, marked by the introduction of mobile applications to facilitate payments across a spectrum of services and products. There is a notable uptick in the volume of electronic transactions, and the process of settling goods and services is being streamlined through the incorporation of banking terminals.
