ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 13. There were a total of 2,145 ATMs in Turkmenistan as of the beginning of December this year, which is slightly higher than the previous month's figure of 2,142 ATMs, Trend reports.
Data from the Central Bank of Turkmenistan shows that Ashgabat leads in the concentration of ATMs with 451 units, followed by Mary (443) and Lebap (438).
The Dayhanbank State Commercial Bank has the largest number of ATMs - 1022, followed by the Turkmenistan State Commercial Bank with 441 ATMs and the JTurkmenbashi Joint-Stock Commercial Bank with 356 units.
The country has witnessed remarkable growth in ATM deployment, more than doubling in the last six years, from 924 in January 2016 through 2,144 by January 2023.
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan's financial sector is experiencing substantial growth, evident in the widespread adoption of mobile applications for diverse payment purposes, a notable surge in transaction volumes, and the introduction of novel payment methods through banking terminals.
