BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 24. To lower carbon dioxide emissions, Baku International Sea Trade Port (BISTP) in Azerbaijan has started using the Prolong additive industrially at its facilities, BISTP told Trend.

"The Baku International Sea Trade Port uses diesel fuel. Starting in June 2024, a special additive called 'Prolong' has been incorporated into fuel, resulting in a 15 percent reduction of carbon dioxide emissions per liter, equivalent to 400 grams. Based on BISTP's findings, this operation results in a net economic benefit equal to five percent of the cost of purchased diesel fuel," the statement reads.

To note, BISTP has set a goal to attain zero emissions of greenhouse gases by the year 2035.
