BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 28. Water resources in the territories liberated from the occupation are highly valuable, Head of the Land Use Control Department at the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Firidun Tagiyev, said at the “Role of Water Management Systems in Climate-Resilient Agriculture” COP29 round table, Trend reports.
He highlighted that the presence of 10 reservoirs and 17 rivers in these areas enhances the accessibility of freshwater reserves.
“The territories liberated from occupation have been designated as a green energy zone. We have committed to making these areas a zero-emission zone. Consequently, harnessing hydropower resources and improving water management in these regions are key objectives,” Tagiyev added.
This November, Azerbaijan will host COP29. On December 11 of last year, the COP28 plenary meeting in Dubai made this decision. Baku will become the center of the world and will receive about 70-80,000 foreign guests.
