BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6. The regular meeting of the working group on “Green Energy Space,” established to ensure the implementation of measures envisaged by the “Strategy of Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026,” was held in hybrid form, Trend reports.
According to the information, Deputy Energy Minister of Azerbaijan Samir Valiyev, who chaired the meeting, emphasized in his speech that the projects implemented within the framework of the strategy are harmoniously combined with the activities carried out within the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World."
He noted that having regular meetings of the working group really helps to keep everyone on the same page and make sure we're all accountable. It also helps to shine a light on the important issues we need to address.
Deputy Chairperson of the working group, Deputy Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications Ramil Huseyn presented a preliminary assessment report on the results of monitoring for the first half of 2024 within the framework of the strategy implementation.
The information was presented on the results of the implementation of activities under the goal “Green Energy Space." Indicators for six areas of activity and completed works under the set goals, development of public-private partnerships in the fields of gas supply, heat supply, research of offshore wind energy potential, expansion of opportunities for bioenergy and geothermal energy use, creation of an information system on renewable energy sources, and development of the National Plan for Electrometric Power Plants were discussed.
Then reports from other members of the group were heard, and further steps, calls, and recommendations were considered. Following the strategy document, the tasks related to the effective implementation of measures in the coming period were communicated.
To note, the working group on "Green Energy Space," along with the Ministry of Energy and the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications, includes representatives of the Ministries of Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Digital Development and Transport, Finance, Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, SOCAR, Central Bank, Azerbaijan Investment Holding, State Committee on Statistics, State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, State Customs Committee, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development and Transport, and the Ministry of Energy.
Eight working groups were established by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 12, 2023, to ensure full, timely, and effective implementation of the measures envisaged in the “Strategy of Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026” and to coordinate the activities of the relevant state bodies. The working group on “Green Energy Space” also fulfills the goal of “Green Energy Space” in this context and coordinates the activities of relevant state bodies.
