BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. Algerian energy giants SONATRACH and SONELGAZ, along with Germany’s VNG, Italy’s Snam and SEACORRIDOR, and Austria’s VERBUND GREEN HYDROGEN, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore the feasibility of an integrated green hydrogen production project in Algeria, Trend reports via Snam.
The project aims to supply the European market through the SoutH2 Corridor.
The agreement will enable these parties to jointly conduct necessary studies across the entire green hydrogen value chain. This collaborative approach will assess the potential profitability and viability of establishing a comprehensive green hydrogen production system to support Europe’s energy transition.
The SoutH2 Corridor is poised to reduce Europe’s dependence on fossil fuels by promoting a low-carbon, sustainable energy economy. Successfully realizing this project could help meet Europe’s green energy demands while bolstering Algeria’s role as a key energy supplier to the continent.
