BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. SOCAR Green is identifying innovative solutions to reduce carbon emissions across Azerbaijan, the company told Trend.
"SOCAR Green, founded in 2024, is actively involved in the exploration and development of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies as part of its broader efforts to drive Azerbaijan's energy transition. While specific CCUS projects are still in the early stages of development, SOCAR Green is focused on identifying and advancing innovative solutions to reduce carbon emissions across the country's energy sector. These initiatives aim to support both national and global decarbonization goals by capturing, utilizing, and securely storing carbon emissions that would otherwise contribute to environmental pollution," said the company.
As part of its efforts, SOCAR Green said it is collaborating with international partners to conduct pre-feasibility assessments and research into the most effective CCUS technologies suited for Azerbaijan's unique energy landscape.
"SOCAR Green is dedicated to integrating CCUS into Azerbaijan's energy infrastructure and aims to implement these technologies alongside other sustainable energy initiatives. The ongoing assessment and development of these projects reflect SOCAR Green's commitment to fostering a low-carbon economy and ensuring that Azerbaijan plays a key role in global efforts to address climate change," the company said.
