Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 March / Trend corr S. Babayeva/ The next meeting of the working group of the People's Computer project is scheduled to take place during the first half of March, the head of the Department for Development of Informational Community at Azerbaijan's Communications and IT Ministry Rufat Gulmammadov stated on 3 March.

"Because the Azerbaijani Government and Microsoft will divulge their proposals then, the meeting will be important for the implementation of the project," he said. The decision to unveil the proposals was made at the previous working group's meeting.

The core of the project is to provide the underprivileged Azerbaijani population with computers through long-term credit and at a low interest rate.

The project is intended for 3 years although its total cost has not been defined as yet. Its key purpose is to offer computers at the lowest prices. As a pilot project, there are plans to purchase 10,000 computers this year

According to the Communications Ministry's approximate calculations, for every 100 people in Azerbaijan there are 3-4 computers provided. Should the project be successful, the number of computers will be increased to more than 5 computers per every 100 people.
