Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 March / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / An NGO Internet Forum of Azerbaijan submitted proposals to the Communication and IT Ministry to improve the quality and decrease prices for the Internet in the country. The proposals included improving mutual understanding among private providers and State Communication Departments, as well as free competitiveness in the Internet market, a decrease in Internet service prices and to develop the Internet in the country.
The proposals also concern a decrease in the cost of equipment and automatic switching centre by private providers, offering State assistance to expand the Internet through the privileged sale of ADSL modems, projects and programs to form public information centres and measures to the legitimate registration process of Internet addresses.
The NGO proposes to carry out monitoring to reveal quality and tariffs for Internet services to provide transparent activity of providers with the participation of experts from the State, businesses and the public.
The Communication and IT Ministry stated the department did not receive the document. The document will be considered as soon as it is submitted to the Ministry.
The issue to reduce the prices of the Internet in Azerbaijan will be considered by the Coordination Council for Internet Development at the Communication Ministry in early March.
