Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 June / Trend / The mobile operator of Azerbaijan Azercell telecom installed 29 new radio base stations in May. Out of the total 15 stations are installed in Baku, 3 in Absheron, the rest are installed in Aghsu, Barda, Jalilabad, Ismayilli, Goychay, Shamakhy, Sheki, Tovuz, Zagatala and Zardab regions.
Azercell has totally installed 2 Home Location Registers, 15 Base Stations Controller Systems, 16 Mobile Services Switching Centers and 1403 radio base stations.
On 19 Jan 1996, Azercell Telecom was established as a JV by the Azerbaijani Communications & IT Ministry (35.7%) and Fintur Holdings BV (64.3%), whose 58.55% belong to TeliaSonera and 41.45% to Turkcell. For the time being, the company is completely privatized.
