AZQTELL Offers Wi-max Services in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 August / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / AZQTELL telecommunication company will introduce Wi-max services (HS wireless internet) in Azerbaijan in September, the company said on 27 August.

"At present we are doing test work and establishing stations," AZQTELL said. Equipment was purchased from the US Cisco company.

Tariffs on services of the company have been determined with estimations of juridical figures and individuals.

At the first stage, covering the period till the end of 2008 AzQTELL expects 1,200 subscribers and will cover the whole Baku and Absheron peninsular through the network and the rest regions of the country within next three years. Currently, the company can serve 4,000 subscribers technically.

In addition to Wi-max, the company plans to offer services of VoIP, VPN and IP TV technologies in future.

AZQTELL Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) was established in December 2005. Qtell Global Networks located in London and Transcaspian Telecom registered in Baku are founders of the company. The company got a license for Wi-max service in the territory of Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2007.
