Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication to Establish Electronic Government

Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 November / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / The Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication and Information Technology finished development of a state program on Electronic Azerbaijan for 2009-2012, Iltimas Mammadov, the Deputy Communication Minister said.

According to the Deputy Minister, a new program (the Electronic Azerbaijan for 2009-2012 program are being realized in Azerbaijan), will be basically directed to establish the electronic community and electronic government in the country.

The first program, which realization will finish in 2008, focused on establishment of the relevant infrastructure and construction of the optic-fiber communication line. The second program will be directed to establish new services at the base of infrastructure, which has been formed.

The state program includes about 100 projects and more than 30 ones of them belong to different state bodies of the country and the rest - to the Communication Ministry.

President Ilham Aliyev signed the first state program on development of the communication and information technology in Azerbaijan (Electronic Azerbaijan) in October 2005.

The state program is directed to economic and organizational reforms, modernization and expansion in the field of communication and information technology, as well as development and realization of projects to provide shift to information society. Measures plan on realization of the state program Electronic Azerbaijan includes economic and organizational reforms, privatization, liberalization, regulation, technical modernization, improvement of broadcasting, post reforms and programs on shift to information society.
