Arab company buys Georgian Imedi TV channel

Businessman Joseph Key has sold Imedi television channel. He told to reporters at a press conference.

The Arab Rak-Georgia-Holding became new owner of the company.

Under the agreement, Arab company holds 90 percent and Key 10 percent of stocks.

"By selling the stocks I want to recompense losses I incurred because of the global crisis," Key said. The company will become leading television company in Georgia due to financial support it receives," Key said.

Arab Rak-Georgia Holding chairman Mark Monem said at the press conference that his company plans to invest the television company and to ensure its independence.

Rak-Georgia-Holding is Georgia-Arab investment company. It has owned the Poti sea port for 49 years. It implements project on free industrial zone in the port area. The company is also interested in the construction, import of building materials and agriculture. Besides, Euro oil, part of the company, recently bought People's Bank together with its subsidiaries.
