Situation with computer piracy improved in Azerbaijan

According to the annual report of Business Software Alliance (BSA), compiled on the basis of research International Data Corporation (IDC) for 2008, Azerbaijan ranked 6th in the world on piracy level in 2008, while it was at the third place in 2007.

The analysis shows that piracy dropped by 2 percent in Azerbaijan within last 3 years and this figure amounted to 90 percent in 2008.

First place in the ranking of 110 countries surveyed, took Georgia (95 percent), second - Bangladesh (92 percent), third - Armenia (92 percent). From CIS countries the level of piracy in Moldova is 90 percent, in Ukraine - 84 percent, in Kazakhstan - 78 percent. Best indicators belong to the United States (20 percent), Japan (21 percent) and Luxembourg (21 percent). The overall level of piracy in the world is 41 percent, while the damage from the use of unlicensed products is estimated at $53 billion.
