The Turkmentel-2009 international exhibition and conference will focus on construction of Caspian segment of fiber-optic cable main line Trans-Asia-Europe (TAE) between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, the Communications and Information Technologies Ministry (CITM) said.
Jalil Jafarov, Director of the Ministry's Center of International Relations and Calculations attended the conference.
Jafarov will hold discussions with the Turkmen side on the agreements reached earlier on the construction of the TAE Caspian segment.
Presently, the construction of the TAE Trans-Caspian segment between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan is more advantageous because it will reduce the route and increase the volume of the exchange traffic and have direct access to Kyrgyzstan and China.
The relevant agencies of both countries have been given instructions and the project is included in the protocol of the interstate commission.
The bilateral talks on the project were intensified after the Azerbaijani presifdent's last visit to Turkmenistan and currently there is definite agreement on this issue at the presidential level.
Turkmenistan has to be wary of this project, because the Caspian Sea status remains unsolved.
Talks are held with Kazakhstan parallel with Turkmenistan. There is protocol signed between center of international relations and calculations of the communication and IT ministry and Kazakh Company KazTransCom. Upon the protocol, project will be financed jointly.
