Over 200 postal offices will join the automated corporative information system of Azerpoct postal operator, the Communication and IT Ministry postal office manager, Novruz Mammadov, said today.
Mammadov said that today trainings are being held to increase employees' competence operating in Azerpoct branches. They will also render banking services besides traditional postal services. Trainings will be regularly organized as far as Azerpoct information system expands.
Mammadov said that roughly 1,200 branches of postal communication situated all over the Republic will join the corporative information system by the end of the first six months of 2010.
At present, Azerpocht OJSC is technically ready for rendering banking financial services.
Azerpocht OJSC plans to get a license to render financial services from the Central Bank till December 1. Postal offices will render full financial services from 2010. It will create basis to provide profitability of postal operator by 2012.
Rendering of bank financial services will be possible due to introduction of automated corporative-information system. Presently, the system was successfully tested and fully ready for exploitation.
Initially, postal offices will render limited banking operations, including cash transactions, money transfer and opening of clients' accounts, etc.
Loans will be given to the population in long-term prospect.
Azerpocht will seriously compete with players of this market after entering Azerbaijani banking sector, head of transactions department Rovshan Rustamov said.
Presently, about 46 banks operate in Azerbaijani bank market. Total number of branches exceeds 500. Number of Azerpocht postal branches exceeds 1,600.
