Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 7 / Trend H. Valiyev /

The State Radio Frequency Department's Ether Control Service of the Azerbaijani Communication and IT Ministry strengthens control over Azerbaijan's ether, the State Radio Frequency Department said.

The State Radio Frequency Department's Ether Control Service gave corresponding instructions to strengthen control over TV and radio waves of neighboring countries used to broadcast TV and radio channels.

At present, some measures are taken to remove illegal intrusion upon ether broadcasting in the territory of Azerbaijan. This factor is in both Azerbaijani TV channels and neighboring countries' ones. Azerbaijan and Iran has signed the protocol to share channels. According to the protocol, Azerbaijani TV channels are broadcasted on odd channels but Iranian ones - on even ones. There is also the similar agreement with Georgia and Russia. This issue is partially solved with Armenia under mediation of Armenia.

According to the Communications and IT Ministry, it is impossible to put limits in ether between neighboring countries. According to the adopted international norms and recommendations of International Telecommunication Union (ITU), it is permitted to intrude ether of other country depending on relief within a radius of 300 kilometers. There are cases when AzTV channel is broadcasted in Yerevan. The Armenian side rather disagrees.

Armenian TV channels are broadcasted mainly from occupied territories. Armenian TV channels are broadcasted from TV tower situated in Shusha. It allows broadcasting TV and radio shows in a long distance. Stations installed in regions near occupied territories are obstacles to broadcast Armenian TV channels in Azerbaijan.
