The Institute of Information Technologies of Azerbaijan's National Academy of Sciences has conducted conceptual, legal and technological analysis in order to implement a project called "E-science," the academy said.
At the moment, the Institute of Information Technologies has completed a research on how to use IT in the science sphere. A monitoring information system has been worked out and about 150 scientific organizations have been involved in this system. Analysis on IT-use has been held in 135 organizations.
Also, the institute plans to launch a network called ElmNet, which will be integrated into international scientific networks.
The institute's main objective is to improve the management and development of the scientific system in accordance with modern requirements.
The Academy of Sciences has developed a conceptual analysis of the action plan for 2009-2012.
The network's infrastructure will comprise of electronic education, material and technical base, and the internal computer infrastructure of academic institutions will be linked corporately and locally.
