Georgia offers most expensive cellular services in CIS
Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb.3 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /
Georgia ranks first as for providing expensive cellular services in the post-Soviet area, and the third place among 186 countries. The Georgian Young Financiers and Businessmen Association made this statement on the basis of studies INFORMA TELECOMS & MEDIA and WORLD DEVELOPMENT INDIKATORS DETABASE. The Association held presentation of the Georgian cellular market's study at the Iliani hotel
"Georgian cellular rates are inadequately high, even compared to the countries where GDP per capita is higher several times," Association president Merab Janashvili said. Georgia lives behind some developed countries including the UK, the U.S., France, Japan and Canada.
According to the studies, Russian mobile service is cheaper by far. Expenses on standard package are 7 times lower
Rules of unhealthy competition predominate on the mobile service market. Inter-connection tariffs between mobile operators and fixed telephone networks are unfair. The studies shows that parity is violated on the market
