Georgia's TV and Radio Center intends to sue Imedi and Pirveli Stereo, demanding the payment of arrears.

The center's Director Boris Adamia said Imedi's TV tower debt is 150,000 lari, while Pirveli Stereo owes 90,000 lari. Moreover, the companies must pay arrears on electricity as the center pays for the resources used by the Telasi company's transmitters installed on the tower.

According to the center head, in the case of non-payment, the center has the right to switch off the company's broadcasts. However, in the case of Imedi, the population's interests must be taken into account, he added.

Imedi broadcasts informational and other public-interest programs.

"Therefore, we refrain from switching off the channel. As for Pirveli, it only broadcasts music," Adamia said.
