Mobile operator Coscom Uzbekistan is a subsidiary of the Scandinavian TeliaSonera. It has obtained permission of the Uzbek Agency of Communication and Information to use the company's available bandwidth to build a network of technology LTE, the source said.
In October 2009, the company Uzdunrobita, a subsidiary of Russia's MTS, got a permission to build LTE network in Tashkent. MTS plans to deploy the network. The equipment of Chinese Huawei Technologies will operate in the range of 2,5-2,7 GHz, taking into account the configuration of the existing network 3G.
The technology LTE (Long-Term Evolution) allows to reach data transmission speed more than 100 Mbps (data transmission speed in networks 3G -3-7 Mbit / s).
Services are provided by five companies - Uzdunrobita, Unitel (owned by VimpelCom), Coscom, Perfectum Mobile and Uzbektelekom Mobile (subsidiary of Uzbektelecom) in Uzbekistan.
The number of mobile users in Uzbekistan in 2009 increased by 29 percent - up to 15.8 million.
