Intel may participate in the "People's Computer" project in Azerbaijan, Intel Sales Manager in Central Asia and Caucasus Julia Smelkova said in an interview with the Baku-based Infocity technology journal. She added that the project would open opportunities for market expansion.

"We pay close attention to educational programs in the post-Soviet space," Smelkova said. "They will have great future. This sector will increase continuously. We are playing an active role in the 'One Student - One Computer' project implemented under Azerbaijan's state program on educational informatization."

The Intel sales director stressed that promoting suhc projects requires considerable efforts, which may span several years. She cited as an example memorandums, which have been signed in recent years with Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Georgia.

"We carry out these kinds of projects with Microsoft and Cisco because they work in this field. A single computer does not mean anything. Content and software licensing is required,"she said.
