IT Minister: Damage to telecommunications infrastructure as result of flood estimated at 2.5 million manat

As a result of the natural disaster caused by increase in water level in the Kur river, damage to telecommunications infrastructure is estimated at roughly 2.5 million manat by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, the Communications and IT Minister Ali Abbasov said today.

As a result of the natural disaster caused by increase in water level in the Kur river, damage to telecommunications infrastructure is estimated at roughly 2.5 million manat by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, the Communications and IT Minister Ali Abbasov said today.

According to the Minister, the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers gave appropriate instructions, which makes the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies responsible to eliminate the problems caused by the disaster. These funds will be allocated from the Ministry's own resources.

"Three months are allocated for reconstruction works to the Ministry, but according to our plans and activities that today are carried out at an accelerated rate, reconstruction works will be completed within two months. Azerbaijani postal operator LLC Azerpoct is responsible to grant compensation to the families affected from flooding. In this regard the works are being conducted under the authority of the Emergency Situations Ministry, with which a joint commission has been created," Abbasov said.

Communications Ministry today has been completed reconstruction works in areas which are partly affected by the natural disaster. All the old telephone system has been replaced.
