Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Ministry's Information Computing Center has completed works on connecting 13 regional telecommunication nodes to the national Internet infrastructure AzDATACOM, the Ministry's report says.

According to the Ministry Dashkesan, Jabrail, Ujar, Tovuz, Shamkir, Goygol, Tartar, Zardab, Guba, Siyazan, Shabran, Gusar, and Khachmaz (Khudat) regions got access to the AzDATACOM segment.

The network is based on channels that will provide high speed and qualitative data transmission. Such a network will create the preconditions for effective data exchange between the regional offices of the organization and between different agencies while using VPN (Virtual Private Network) technology. So, it makes international channels less significant, enabling to reduce expense considerably. Governmental institutions, private companies, non governmental organizations, academic institutions and individuals will be able to use the network.

At present, 364 individuals and 603 legal entities are connected to AzDATACOM.

Works on laying the main fiber-optic segment AzDATACOM are carried out under the project "National E-Governance Network Initiative".

The network will enable to transfer data at speeds of 10 Gbps within the country. The introduction of the high-speed network will significantly increase the number of Internet users in Azerbaijan, particularly the users of such popular services as broadband Internet, as well as a number of innovative services (Vo-IP, IP-TV, etc.). The project will also enable to use successfully network in distance education, electronic commerce, remote management of the business.
