Modernized GlobalStar satellite communication system to expand next-generation services in Azerbaijan

Modernized GlobalStar satellite communication system will enable operator of the Russian segment of GlobalTel satellite system to provide next-generation services in the territory of Azerbaijan

GlobalTel chose CBOSS solutions to implement the project on a new subscriber equipment for continuous monitoring of facilities via a satellite communication system.

CBOSS Corporation today adapted CBOSSbcc products (Convergent postpaid-billing and customer care) and CBOSSmdDrive (system of management of external resources) for the needs of the operator.

The commissioning of new equipment will allow subscribers to determine the location of subscribers in remote regions, and use push-to-talk services, MMS, fax, etc. Multi-mode portable telephones and data devices will be produced to fully support the new services.

Azerbaijan joined a single tariff area to serve the Russian segment of GlobalStar. GlobalTel satellite communication services in the republic are rendered by the contract signed between GlobalTel company and Azerbaijani telecommunications company Buta-Telekom.

GlobalStar provides coverage of the globe between 74 degrees north and south latitude with the help of 48 low-orbit satellite. GlobalStar service is available in more than 100 countries.

GlobalStar segment covers the territory of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Mongolia, Afghanistan and northern Japan, including northern and eastern seas, part of the Pacific Ocean.

In mid-July, the Russian government authorized the use space systems and complexes for military use to launch satellites of the U.S system of global mobile and fixed communications Globalstar-2 from Baikonur. Six satellites will be launched. The first six will be launched in September or early October.

After the full deployment of the new constellation of GlobalStar satellites and ground segment, data transfer rate will increase up to 256 kbit / s to the terminal, and the quality of services will increase.
