Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 26 / Trend H.Valiyev /

The Azerbaijani mobile operator Azerfon LLC is considering the possibility of reducing the tariffs on roaming in the CIS for its subscribers, Azerfon Corporate Communications Manager Elshad Farzaliyev has told Trend.

Farzaliyev said the company will reduce the tariff in accordance with the agreement of the CIS mobile operators on reducing the inter-operator tariffs, which will allow to serve to customers at more affordable prices. He did not specify the cost of the tariffs.

This issue become topical after the decision of the Russian mobile operators (MTS, VimpelCom and MegaFon), which have initiated to reduce the tariffs on roaming services from Dec.1.

The question has been considered in the framework of the international cooperation of the CIS antitrust organizations. This will allow to develop a common strategy to reduce tariffs on inter-operator calls in the post-Soviet space.

An identical strategy is applied in the EU countries, where inter-operator roaming rates are regulated by the European Commission, which sets low prices for customers inside the EU.

The tariffs on roaming are formed on the basis of the prices of inter-operator connections with the roaming partners, which will allow to provide the roaming service at affordable prices.
