Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 13 / Trend H.Valiyev /
The Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences' (ANAS) Cybernetics Institute will introduce an intellectual forecasting monitoring system in 2011 at the wells of the Shirvan Oil and Siyazanneft Oil and Gas Production Union operating companies, Director Telman Aliyev told Trend today.
He added that the integration of the system will be implemented at Shirvan Oil in the first quarter of 2011 and at Siyazanneft by late 2011.
Today, Aliyev said, the institute has already received the initial results of a similar monitoring system installed at five inactive wells located on the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic's (SOCAR) Gum Adasi Field.
"The results will be published after the establishment of a radio link between the wells and the seismic center, as the data obtained requires examination," he said. "The communications channel used today does not satisfy the requirements for the information exchange. Works on creating an uninterrupted service will be completed over the next 10 days."
Transducers have been installed at the wells that are directly linked to the institute and provide real-time information about wind speed, pressure and temperature, and various noises taking place during the production process.
The information is converted into signals, which are then transmitted via radio to a control center to prevent accidents. Each signal has its own specific interference, which provides the opportunity for predicting undesirable incidents.
The monitoring system is already being used at a compressor station at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, as well as wells belonging to Shirvan Oil, 10 wells belonging to the Karasu operating company, and several other wells belonging to Surakhani Oil, Binagadi Oil and Balakhanineft.
The system reduces energy costs by 70 percent, which positively affects the cost of crude oil.
