The Azerbaijani Azerpoct postal operator will launch a mail-tracking system throughout the territory of Azerbaijan by the end of the first half of the year, head of the postal services department of the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry, chairman of the postal services of the Regional Commonwealth of Communications Novruz Mammadov told Trend on Thursday.
Mammadov said that currently all the systems and technical equipment required to launch the system have been delivered to regional post offices and that their installation is underway.

The mail tracking system envisages the assignment of a unique postal mail ID, which will be issued to the sender at regional post offices. This will allow information pertaining to the mail ID to be placed in one database, at every stage of the mailing. Thanks to the new system, it will be possible to track the passage of postal items through the Internet to their final destination using real time.

The system will be integrated into the Azerpoct postal service operator's official website.
The mail tracking system will also be used in the EMS (Express Mail Service) service and other types of postal services.
