Azerbaijan, Baku, May 12/ Trend, H. Veliyev /
Azerbaijani Communications and the IT Ministry will resolve organizational issues associated with issuing digital signature soon, Ultra Company Director General Tahir Mirkishili told Trend on Wednesday.
Mirkishili said that from a technical point, all issues have already been resolved and that as of today only organizational issues remain.
The cost of a digital signature will be determined in the near future.
"In world practice, the cost of a digital signature varies. This is mainly due to the time it takes to acquire a signature, as well as a number of services that will be used by the owner. Also, an important aspect is the quantitative restriction on the use of digital signatures. All of the above mentioned points determine the cost of digital signatures, which can range from 60 to 120 euros in European countries," Mirkishili said.
With regard to the procedures for acquiring an e-digital signature, much depends on the category of users. Azerbaijan plans to launch three centers for issuing digital signatures for citizens, state agencies and private enterprises.
Mirkishili said the period of obtaining a digital signature will depend on the form of work that would be guaranteed by the national certification center.
"It can be obtained within one week or one day. The time is mainly needed for the validation of documents, card issuing, sending PIN-code via traditional mail and other concerns," he said.
To use a digital signature, the user must use a card reader and special software, which can be downloaded from the Internet site e-imza.az. The page provides information about all existing types of e-services.
The main advantage of digital signatures is the full transfer of business relations and ties into an electronic format.
Obtaining a digital signature ensures authorship and the legitimacy of the content in documents which are exchanged by an organization via the Internet. It is impossible to forge an e-signature. The documents certified by the digital signature or a signed document are recognized as equivalents.
